VOTER REGISTRATION

Artesia Chamber of Commerce has another membership perk you may or may not know about! Many of you know, we offer voter registrations at the chamber, however, some people have schedules that don’t allow them to come to our office during business hours. So, we will come to YOU! If you have employees that need to get registered to vote or update their voter registrations, let’s chat! We can schedule a time to come to your facility and get your employees taken care of. LIONS CLUB TAILGATE

Friday, October 14 is the 27th Annual Lion’s Club Tailgate from 4:00 pm – 6:30 pm in the u-shaped parking lot of the APS Administration building (301 Bulldog Blvd.) Tickets are just $10 and can be purchased from any Lion’s Club member.

ARTESIA ARTS COUNCIL

*Artist in Residence – Oscar Hernandez artwork will be on display in the lobby of the Ocotillo Performing Arts Center for the months of October and November. Make sure to stop in for the reception and to meet the artist on Thursday, October 20 at 5:30 pm.

*October 14-15 – Art in the Park sign ups have officially closed, however come out and enjoy some early holiday shopping at Jaycee Park this weekend with 100 different vendors! Friday hours 2:00 pm – 8:00 pm and Saturday hours are 8:00 am – 6:00 pm.

FREE FLU VACCINE CLINIC

Wednesday, October 19, Artesia General Hospital is offering a free flu vaccine clinic from 9:00 am – 4:00 pm. *Here are the details.

DESERT WILLOW WILDLIFE REHABILITATION CENTER

Thursday, October 20 is the Annual Benefit Dinner for the Desert Willow Wildlife Rehab Center at the Walter Gerrells Event Center in Carlsbad. Join them for dinner, entertainment, live and silent auctions. Grab Tickets *here (Www.dwwrc.org/benefit)! EDDY COUNTY SURVEY

The government of Eddy County is currently working on an update to its Comprehensive Plan. This is the plan that informs the direction the county will go in terms of improvements, development, and growth over the next several years. If you live anywhere in Eddy County (either inside or outside any city limits), please take this survey to weigh in on the county’s plans for its future. The survey will take only 10 minutes.

SMALL BIZ BUILDER INFO MEETING

Here is a great opportunity for a small business owner who wants to grow or a person with a business idea who wants to get started! ConocoPhillips is funding a program in our area called Small Biz Builder. The organization putting on the program is called Lift Fund.

Here’s how it works in a nutshell:

-The small biz owner or person with a business idea applies to participate in the program. The application deadline is this Friday. I don’t think it is too cumbersome a process.

-Once accepted, you will be invited to participate in three zoom workshops that are two hours each. These will help you develop your plan to start or grow your business.

-Completing this process not only will give you knowledge to help you be successful but will also make you eligible to apply for funding to help you put your plan into action!
