A panel of community leaders and representatives will review the nominations and select individuals based on the depth and breadth of their contributions, leadership qualities, and the lasting impact of their work. The selected women will be honored and recognized at a special event dedicated to celebrating their achievements.

Leap Day Party (February 29 @ 3:00)
The library is celebrating Leap Day with a full afternoon of activities. The children’s story time will begin at 3:00 with crafts and games to follow at 5:00. The games will run into the afternoon and After School STEAM will begin at 6:00. The teens Frog Rock Painting activity will begin at 5:30. Games and activities for adults are from 3:00 to 6:00. This is an all ages event.
Preschool Story Time (February 6, 13, 20, 29 @ 10:00am)
For preschoolers ages 3-5 and their families. Includes crafts, reading aloud, alphabet awareness and early literacy, fun science facts, music, and more, all organized around a different fun theme each week. **NOTE**Story Time will be on Thursday (29th) in conjunction with our Leap Day Party.
Mother Goose on the Loose (February 7, 14, 21, 28 @ 10:00am)
For infants through age 3 and their families. This is a fast-paced program designed to keep babies engaged with rhymes, songs, short books, puppets, baby games, and more.
Toddler Move & Play (February 8, 15, 22, 27 @ 11:00am)
For toddlers ages 1-3 and their families. Music, creative movement, group activities, play with age-appropriate toys, and social time. Our Leap Day Party will be during our regular Toddler Move and Play time, so we moved it to Tuesday (27th) at 11:00am so our patrons wouldn’t miss out on Play Time.
STEM After School (February 8, 15, 22, 29 @ 4:00pm)
For students in grades K-6th and their families. Each week we offer a different fun activity to put STEAM techniques and ideas to work, from LEGO building to paper circuits, slime lab, and more.

Looking for a place to read, study, or just do homework and hang out? Join us every Tuesday from 3:30-5:00 p.m. for Teen Tuesdays. Grades 7-12.

Whether you have connected multiple generations of your family tree, or are just getting started, join the Family History, Genealogy at the Library. Take time to research or seek assistance in your journey.
Stress Less at the Library (February 21 @ noon)
Is the pressure of life getting you down? Come decompress and recharge at the library. This time is being set aside for a quiet, calming experience. We will provide anti-stress activities such as coloring sheets or puzzles, or feel free to bring your own project. This program is being held on the third Wednesday of the month. Ages 18+
Teen Sugar Cookie Wars (February 8 @ 4:00pm)
Join teens for Sugar Cookie Wars. Come decorate sugar cookies with fun and creative designs. All supplies provided. Grades 7-12.
Crafts for Adults – Folded Book Art (February 15 @ 3:30pm)
Sometimes a book just needs to be repurposed. We will show you one technique you can use to turn discarded books into art for your home. All supplies provided. Ages 18+
Sewing Club (February 10 @ 10:00am)
Tweens and teens will learn basic sewing techniques and create unique projects. Limited space is available on a first come basis. Machines and supplies are provided, but if you have a sewing machine, you are encouraged to bring it. Ages 10-15
Self Defense (February 17 @ 10:00am)
Varsity Academy of Artesia will be at the Artesia Public Library this spring for a series of free community self-defense seminars. The seminars will cover basic ground competency, fundamentals of striking, distance management, and how to break common holds. You are encouraged to attend all of the seminars, as there will be new techniques each month. This is an all ages event.
Lunch Bunch Book Club (February 19 @ Noon)
The Lunch Bunch Book Club has a diverse selection of reads for the year. The selections for this group draw from multiple genres and reading formats. February’s Lunch Bunch selection is All Fall Down by Jennifer Weiner. Books are available at the library and on Libby. Age 18+
Literary Lounge (February 29 @ 11:30am)
The Literary Lounge book discussion group reads books on all topics pertaining to books, literature, libraries, bookshops, librarians, authors, and more. February’s selection is The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles. Books are available at the library and on Libby. Age 18+
