Payment and Cancellation Information · Pricing: $30 for NMRA Members; $40 for Non-Members · You must enroll and pay at least 7 days prior to the class. · Cancellations occurring within less than 7 business days of a scheduled class are NOT eligible for a refund. · Reschedules occurring within less than 7 business days of a scheduled class are subject to a $10 rescheduling fee. · NMRA reserves the right to cancel classes that do not meet minimum enrollment requirements. You will be notified if this occurs. · Your workbook will be provided to you at the class.

The Food Handler Class- The ServSafe program offers training for every level of your organization. The 3-hour course will utilize the ServSafe Food Handler Guide and approved videos. The guide highlights critical new FDA codes and instills food safety basics through activities, exercises and quizzes and makes a valuable post-training reference. A certificate of completion is also included for all participants. The instructor is a nationally certified instructor from the National Restaurant Association Education Foundation.

Attendees who successfully complete the course and pass the exam will receive a certification from NRA Solutions which is nationally recognized and valid for 5 years.  The 8-hour course (including a lunch break) will utilize the ServSafe Manager Book and approved videos.

GYMNASTICS AT THE ARTESIA AQUATIC CENTER
Wednesday January 17, 2024-Gymnastics class will be starting back up. They will now have classes on Wednesdays with beginners’ class being from 4pm-5pm and advanced class being from 5pm-6:15pm. $5 per child and 25 kids max each class. 

2ND ANNUAL ARTESIA 4-H FUNDRAISING SHOOT

KIDS CARNIVAL AT THE ARTESIA AQUATIC CENTER
Monday, February 19, 2024 from 1pm-5pm, at the Aquatic Center located at 711 Bowman Dr. This event is for kids ages 5-12yr. $65 per kid. 30 kids max. Kids carnival includes swimming /water activities, games, carnival themed arts and kraft’s, and a movie Games : corn hole, ring toss, lucky duck pond, pin the tail on the donkey Arts&Krafts : rock painting, paper clowns, paper plate animal shaping. SPRING BREAK SPLASH CAMP AT THE ARTESIA AQUATIC CENTER
March 18-22, 2024 from 8am-3pm at the Aquatic Center 711 Bowman Dr. This camp is for kids ages 5-12yr. $100 per child. 30 kids max. Activities will include- swimming, games, and water themed arts and crafts. They will provide snacks, drinks, and all the water 😉 What do you need to bring : swimwear, towel, and lunch.

They are asking all the Business of Artesia to come join them in welcoming her to our town and bringing any questions you have that she would be able to answer. They would also like to invite all our Artesia Resources to attend this event and set up a both to show Secretary Nair what our town has to offer to our community. ARTESIA PUBLIC LIBRARY-FULL SCHEDULE-JANUARY
Holiday Closures 
The Library will be closed January 15th for Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. Teen programs will resume January 9th. Children’s programs will resume January 16th.   
Preschool Story Time (January 16, 23, & 30 @ 10:00 am) 
For preschoolers ages 3-5 and their families. Includes crafts, reading aloud, alphabet awareness and early literacy, fun science facts, music, and more, all organized around a different fun theme each week.   
Mother Goose (January 17, 24, & 31 at 10:00 am)
For infants through age 3 and their families. This is a fast-paced program designed to keep babies engaged with rhymes, songs, short books, puppets, baby games, and more.  
Toddler Move & Play (January 18 & 25 at 11:00 am) 
For toddlers ages 1-3 and their families. Music, creative movement, group activities, play with age-appropriate toys, and social time.  
After School STEAM (January 18 & 25 at 4:00 pm) 
For students in grades K-6th and their families. Each week we offer a different fun activity to put STEAM techniques and ideas to work, from LEGO building to paper circuits, slime lab, and more.  
Teen Tuesdays (January 9, 16, 23, & 30 at 3:30 pm) 
Looking for a place to read, study, or just do homework and hang out? Join us Tuesdays at 3:30 for Teen Tuesdays. Grades 7-12.  
Yarn United (January 10 & 24 at 12:00 noon) 
Whether you are crocheting, knitting, or just untangling the yarn, come and create and learn with other individuals. No matter your skill level, we encourage everyone to join us in creating with other yarnsters. (All forms of sewing, stitching, and crafting welcome.) 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. Ages 18+  
Family History (January 10 & 24 at 4:00 pm) 
Whether you have connected multiple generations of your family tree, or are just getting started, join the Family History, Genealogy at the Library. Take time to research or seek assistance in your journey. 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month. Ages 13+  
Stress Less at the Library (January 17 at noon) 
Is the pressure of life getting you down? Come decompress and recharge at the library. This time is being set aside for a quiet, calming experience. We will provide anti-stress activities such as coloring sheets and puzzles, or feel free to bring your own project. This program is being held on the third Wednesday of the month. Ages 18+  
Crafting for Adults – Snowmen (January 18 at 3:30 pm) 
We haven’t seen much snow around this part of the state this year, but you can create your own snowman in this month’s craft program. All supplies provided. Ages 18+  
Teen Paint & Create (January 25 at 4:00) 
Join us for teen crafting fun. Teen Paint & Create is a great time to get together, relax, and create something fun. All supplies provided. Grades 7-12.   
Sewing Club (January 13 at 10:00 am) 
Tweens and teens will learn basic sewing techniques while creating unique projects. Limited space available on a first come basis. Machines and supplies provided, but you can bring your own machine or fabric. This program is being offered on the second Saturday of the month through the spring. Ages 10-15  
Self Defense (January 20 at 10:00 am) 
Varsity Academy of Artesia New Mexico will be at the Artesia Public Library this spring for a series of free community self-defense seminars. The seminars will cover basic ground competency, fundamentals of striking, distance management and how to break common grips and holds.   
Lunch Bunch Book Club (January 22 at noon) 
The Lunch Bunch Book Club has a diverse selection of reads for the year. The selections for this group draw on many genres throughout the year. January’s Lunch Bunch selection is Code Name Sapphire by Pam Jenoff. This group meets on the third Monday of the month. Books are available at the Artesia Public Library and on Libby. Ages 18+.  
Literary Lounge Book Club (January 25 at 11:30 am) 
The Literary Lounge book discussion group reads books on all topics pertaining to books, literature, libraries, bookshops, librarians, authors, and more. This group meets the last Thursday of the month from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. This month’s selection is “The Banned Bookshop of Maggie Banks” by Shauna Robinson. The monthly book selection is available at the library and on Libby. Ages 18+.
