HALLOWEEN HAUNTED HOUSE- SPONSORS NEEDED
Critter Care Center, with help from Artesia Rotary and the AHS Volleyball & Swim Team will be throwing their annual Halloween Haunted house. This year will be more extravagant with a large investment by Critter Care Center and Tech Noir LLC! The haunted house will be held at the old Ken-Mar building, 302 W. New hours starting Tuesday Sept 5, 2023- Monday through Saturday, 9:00 am to 6:00 pm. 
September is Library Card Sign Up Month-During the month of Sept they will waive the fee for replacement cards. If you get a new card, replace your card, renew your card, or update your info, you will be entered in to a prize drawing. If your card is up to date and in good standing, you can fill out a survey for an entry into the prize drawing.
Preschool Story Time (September 12, 19, & 26 @ 10:00am) 
For preschoolers ages 3-5 and their families. Includes crafts, reading aloud, alphabet awareness and early literacy, fun science facts, music, and more, all organized around a different fun theme each week. 
Mother Goose on the Loose (September 13, 20, & 27 @ 10:00am) 
For infants through age 3 and their families. This is a fast-paced program designed to keep babies engaged with rhymes, songs, short books, puppets, baby games, and more. 
Toddler Move & Play (September 14, 21, & 28 @ 11:00am) 
For toddlers ages 1-3 and their families. Music, creative movement, group activities, play with age-appropriate toys, and social time. 
STEAM After School (September 14, 21, & 28 @ 4:00pm) 
For students in grades K-6th and their families. Each week we offer a different fun activity to put STEAM techniques and ideas to work, from LEGO building to paper circuits, slime lab, and more. 
Teen Tuesdays (September 12, 19, & 26 @ 3:30pm)
Looking for a place to read, study, or just do homework and hang out? Join us every Tuesday from 3:30-5:00 p.m. for Teen Tuesdays. Grades 7-12. 
Yarn United (September 13 & 27 @ Noon) 
Whether you are crocheting, knitting, or just untangling the yarn, come and create and learn with other individuals. No matter your skill level, we encourage everyone to join us in creating with other yarnsters. Ages 18+

Whether you have connected multiple generations of your family tree, or are just getting started, join the Family History, Genealogy at the Library. Take time to research or seek assistance in your journey.

Recreate some favorite children’s book covers using food supplies, icing, sprinkles, and edible ink. Compete with other families to see who can create the best book covers. 
Teen Sip & Paint (September 16 @ 2:00pm) 
Join teens for a Sip and Paint party at the library. Take a break and relax with fun paint activities and snacks. Grades 7-12. 
Noon Book Discussion Group (September 18 @ Noon) 
One of our favorite things to do around the library is share and discuss books. Come join in the discussion at our Noon Book Discussion Group which meets on the third Monday of the month. This month we are discussing “The Rose Code” by Kate Quinn. Books are available at the library and on Libby. 
Crafts for Adults: Autumn Signs (September 21 @ 3:30pm) 
We will be putting our personal touches on Fall and Autumn signs using the chalk technique. Trace a design in chalk and paint. We will have some stencils available as well. Ages 18+.  
Homecoming Parade (September 22) 
Look for our booth with a special craft in front of the Artesia Daily Press office just before the Homecoming Parade.  
Self Defense (September 23 @ 10:00am) 
We will be learning some basic self-defense moves in this special Saturday program. Ages 13+ 
Good Neighbor Day (September 28) 
With the goal of becoming a more connected and caring community, we are joining others across the nation to be a Good Neighbor. Being a good neighbor starts with “hello”. Stop by for coloring sheets and a special treat from the library. 
Kitch Lit Book Discussion Group (September 28 @ 11:30am) 
Our foody book discussion group meets on the last Thursday of the month. Books for this group are always somehow related to food. This month we are discussing “The Recipe Box” by Viola Shipman. Books are available at the library and on Libby. 
Red Dirt Black Gold Kid’s Zone (September 30 @ 5:00pm) 
Look for us in Heritage Walkway with games and prizes during the Red Dirt Black Gold celebration.
